In recent years KickassTorrents has been the largest torrent site in the world, especially since The Pirate-Bay has been attacked vigorously by several authorities.
TorrentFreak reports that the US authorities have taken control of the website and that they have detained Artem Vaulin, the alleged man behind it, in Poland.
He is charged with copyright infringement and money laundering. The 30 year old Ukrainian is now facing the risk of being extradited to the United States. Since the beginning of June this year, the torrent site also used the Tor Network to get away from blockades.

Domains and bank accounts seized.
A so-called Criminal Complaint is delivered to the U.S. District Court in Chicago. The owner is charged with conspiracy to commit copyright infringement and money laundering.
It is also evident that it was Apple who provided personal information about Vaulin after investigators checked an IP address for an iTunes transaction against an IP address that was used to log onto KickassTorrents’ Facebook account.
In addition to the arrest in Poland, has a court granted the seizure of bank accounts belonging KickassTorrents and cooperating domains.
